Self-serve farm stands

A payment app for your self-serve farm stand.

An honor box works until nobody has cash. With a QR code on the stand, shoppers pick what they took, pay on their own phone, and you see every sale from the field, the kitchen or the other job.

What you get

  • One sign on the stand

Print a QR sign and tape it to the cooler. Shoppers scan it with their phone camera; there is no app to download.

  • Venmo, cards or cash in the box

They pay with Apple Pay, cards, Venmo, PayPal, Cash App and cash. Cash shoppers tap “I put it in the box,” so even cash sales are logged.

  • No one has to be there

Self-checkout marks each sale as picked up on its own. Card sales are paid in full before anyone walks away.

  • Stock that counts down

Set how many dozen eggs or quarts of berries you put out. When they’re gone, the shop shows sold out instead of disappointing the next car.

  • Know when to restock

Sales show up on your phone as they happen, so you know when the sweet corn is running low.

  • Check the box against the list

Venmo and cash sales are tagged “self,” so you can match them against your Venmo history and the cash box at the end of the day.

See it on a phone

  • A shopper’s phone on a shop page: maple syrup in three sizes, one item in the order and an Apple Pay button

Shoppers tap what they took from the stand.

  • The shopper’s paid screen with the big order code K7M to show the vendor

They pay on their phone and get a receipt.

  • The vendor’s live order list: two paid orders to hand over and 11 maple creams left

Every sale and what’s left, on your phone in the field.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Snap the stand

Take one photo of what you’re selling; prices and counts fill in for you to check.

  2. Step 2

    Turn on self-checkout

Pick which ways people can pay, and print the QR sign.

  3. Step 3

    Go back to work

Sales and stock update on your phone while the stand runs itself.

Questions

What does it cost?
Free to start: no monthly fee, unlimited products, and Venmo, PayPal, Cash App and cash with no SnapCart fee. Apple Pay and cards come with the Silver plan at Stripe’s fee plus 2%, only when you sell.
What stops people from not paying?
Nothing fully, same as an honor box. But a card or Venmo payment is easier than finding cash, and a visible list of sales tends to keep people honest. Many stand owners find they lose less than with a cash-only box.
Do shoppers need cell signal?
Their phone needs a data connection to load the shop and pay. If your stand is in a dead zone, a Wi-Fi extender from the house or barn can help.
Can I still take cash?
Yes. Shoppers who pay cash put it in your box and tap a button, so the sale is still counted and stock still goes down.
